William John Calvert Murrell (1930 - 2020) was an avid art collector and notable industrial engineer. He was educated at St Peter's College, Adelaide, Adelaide University and the General Motors Institute of Technology at Flint, Michigan in the United States. He held senior Industrial Engineering positions in large Australian organisations, including 16 years at Chrysler Australia Limited. He was also State Manager of the South Australian Construction Training Committee, Systems Planning section Head of the Asset Management Branch of the Water Authority of Western Australia and former State and Federal President of the Institute of Industrial Engineers. South Australian artists Colin Russell Gardiner, Mary Millicent Wigg and Andrew Douglas Ambrose Murrell were held in his collection.
